ANDHRA PRADESH AT PRESENT

No one expected such sudden events one after another will happen in Andhra Pradesh in November 2010.
The resignation of the 78-year-old Konijeti Rosaiah, who was the Chief Minister of his State after the sad demise of Y. S. Rajasekar Reddy in a helicopter crash a year ago resigned.
Instead of saying enough is enough, he said: “ Because of my advancing age…I am not able to cope with the pressure.”
The Congress High Command at Delhi appointed speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly N. Kiran Kumar Reddy as the Chief Minister of the State.
In between, YSR’s son Kadapa MP Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s media organization – TV channel Sakshi – launched attacks on Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The new Chief Minister went to New Delhi to meet the Congress High Command to decide the Council of Ministers.
One of the decisions was to take Chiranjeevi, the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief into Congress-fold with a hidden idea – if Jagan and his close MLA’s depart from Congress – it would be helpful to continue the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh.
In order to satisfy Jagan, it was decided to offer a minister post to the uncle of Jagan who was not happy with this decision.
Jagan was thinking that the Congress leadership was sidelining him for a while and making a division in his family.
Therefore, he decided to resign from the Congress party as Member of Parliament and his mother from the legislative assembly as MLA on 29 November 2010.
The news spread all over Andhra Pradesh and the followers and fans of Jagan and YSR were on the war path burning the effigy of Sonia Gandhi and ransacking the district Congress offices.
There was rumor that Jagan is going to start a new party as YSR Congress with his supporter.
Jagan’s ‘Odarpu Yatra’ created a headache for the Congress both in the Center and State.
Jagan’s thinking of getting out of Congress may not bring down the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh.
However, it may create a division in Congress and which may help the opposition like the Telugu Desam Party of Chandrababu Naidu.
Anyway, all are not well in Andhra Pradesh because the Sri Krishna Commission has to submit its’ report by the end of December 2010.
The future of Telengana is another big issue the present government in Andhra Pradesh has to face.
No one even the new Chief Minister Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy knows the future of Andhra Pradesh.
The New Cabinet was sworn in by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh on 1 Dec. 2010.
The Chief Minister allotted the portfolio for the Ministers.
Some of the Ministers were not happy about the allotment of portfolios.
Even one of the Ministers resigned as the minister.
More and more problems the Chief Minister has to face.
Let us wait and see what is going to happen in Andhra Pradesh.
