TEMPLE TREASURE

The recent finding of the treasure at Sree Padmanaba Swamy Temple at Tiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala has triggered discussions regarding the Temple Treasures.

The value of the recoveries from this particular temple itself is touching an amount of Rs. One lakh crore – a big money hidden safely in locked up cellars for hundreds of years.

In fact, all these valuable gold vessels, jewels and coins, in addition to diamonds gems and precious stones belong to the devotees of the Swamy.

They offered to the temple in order to free themselves from the sins they committed knowingly or unknowingly.

There were temple rituals and the devotees fully followed what was said to them.

The belief on the deity has given confidence to the people to offer their valuables to Him.

Still the Kallara B is not opened.

We do not know how many valuable things will come out of it?

All these invaluable treasure belongs to the Temple Trust as it is said.

The Supreme Court has to decide what to do with this huge treasure?

Many suggestions are coming forward from the people of India.

The one I like most was to keep all these treasures in a museum properly classified and labelled for the public view.

The museum will be telling us many things of historic importance.

Also it will reveal to us the capability of the artisans to make such curios in gold.

The gems and diamonds may be identified and labelled for the benefit of the future generations.

The museum will be visited by people from all over the world.

The income generated from the visitors’ fees may be used for its security and safety.

A national museum will certainly gain an international reputation.

Instead of hiding such a wealth inside some dark rooms, it is preferable to bring them to light.
