THERE ARE HIDDEN MESSAGES IN EVERYTHING YOU WRITE OR SAY.

FITNESS

Nutrition experts recommend, you don’t dip below 1200 to 1500 calories a day. When you drastically cut calories, you lose muscle along with fat-especially if you haven’t been exercising. Because muscle is your bodies’ calorie-burning furnace, this can slow down your metabolism; even long after your crash diet is done.

DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT

Since I was not feeling well, I spent the time by looking at the live telecast of Parliament – both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on 26 August 2011.

First of all I felt, why all these legislators – eminent and non-eminent people are feeling very bad about what is going on in the country as far as the corruption is concerned.

Everyone in the country from the poor to the rich knows fully well that there is corruption in every walk of life in India.

Admission to schools and colleges, passing examinations, getting a job, getting a transfer and helping inefficient friends and relatives are being done by bribing or recommendations.

Every one of us knows about it.

Then why we need to waste the precious time of the Parliament repeating the things which everyone knows?

Still I try to reason out some of the speeches by the Parliamentarians listing out the areas where the corruptions are rampant.

Also they tried to define corruption which includes even influencing others to get a better deal and creating a loss of money to the government etc.

I laughed at those arguments by the Parliamentarians.

The irony is that the corrupt (one way or other) was talking vehemently against corruption!

The elected members as they claim do not attend the Parliament and take part in the important bills discussed.

The fight each other like cats and dogs to stall the Parliament proceedings.

How can we tolerate such action within the Parliament in the name of democracy?

The only aim of the opposition party is to find fault with the ruling party and vice versa.

Holding the ruling party to ransom will not help the people of India – the voters – in any way.

Escaping in the name of democracy will not go for long.

There were a large number of people in the street to protest not the autocracy but the democracy itself.

I feel it is high time to realize for the government, teachers, lawyers, doctors, businessmen, politicians – and everyone to do their duty properly for which they are paid a salary.

If it not realized now, it is going to be a hard time for all these people in the future.

Let the philosophy of Anna Hazare prevail and we all learn a lesson of fundamental discipline from it.

VIEWPOINT

Politicians who distribute gifts and cash are only exploiting the greed of voters. The voters accept the gifts, saying their economic condition forces them to do so. The argument is unacceptable because 40 years ago, voters were sincere regardless of their economic status. Unless people discharge their moral responsibility faithfully, money power will continue to play an important role in the elections.

The duty of a scientist, artist or professor is to engage in conflict repressive regimes of knowledge. Any kind of limited knowledge is a form of bondage. The people we admire and even those we worship have all rejected the existing as being adequate and have chosen to engage in conflict to expand the existing. The purpose of our life is not to live in passive acceptance but to engage with conflict in order to be creative. Creativity is the purpose of life. The only word of caution here is that we must first settle ourselves spiritually so that we know whether a conflict is justified or not.

HEALTH

There is no substitute for mother’s milk and its nutritional quality. Apart from increasing the immunity of the child it also helps to strengthen the bond between the mother and baby. Mother’s milk contains numerous anti-bodies which strengthens the immune system of the baby. During the first four months, the baby should be fed breast milk whenever. Breast feeding is recommended for at least the first year of the child. (August 2011)
