VIEWPOINT

Every family has a treasure, passed down the generations, of favorite sayings, private jokes and inspirational tales – not to mention anecdotes so secret they can only be shared in hushed voices. But not every family is lucky enough to have an exceptional chronicler among its ranks – one who can, with the quintessential gift of the writer, give a uniquely personal angle to subjects of universal validity even while avoiding the danger of making the personal too obscure for general interest.
